Employing obsolete technology and analogue tape loops, his haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life and resound with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time. Basinski epic four-volume masterwork The Disintegration Loops (2002–2003), received international critical acclaim. Placek will discuss Basinski’s process, memories and the iconic score dlp 1.1 which accompanies the exhibition Balloons, Umbrellas and Snow.
