“Destiny’s Shiny Bracelet” from my work Raised by Wolves. I took this photo around Thanksgiving in 1989. Destiny and about 6 other kids were living under under the Hollywood Freeway. On any given day there are estimates of around 5000 homeless youth living on the streets of Los Angeles County. In America, on average, there are approximately 41,000 youth ages 13-25 experiencing homelessness in America. Each year these numbers increase. Needless to say, being homeless on Thanksgiving (or any day for that matter) is not something that we should wish on any of our children.
