My beloved grandfather is 99 years young today!!!! This month after ace-ing the written test, his drivers license was renewed for another 5 years. He said to me “my drivers license is going to outlive me!” I said “no, you’re just gonna have to go back and take that test again when you’re 104!” Some things I’ve learned about longevity from him: A constant curiosity. For people, things, the world. If you’ve met him you know he immediately engages in sincere conversation, wanting to know more about you. He stays up-to-date on tech and also has been auditing classes at UCLA for over 20 years. His favorite subjects are history and religion. He even makes it to my dj gigs now and again. He generally says YES to life and so it says YES to him. And he also takes really good care of his health: all the regular doctor visits, daily walks, weight training and a generally healthy diet ...but with plenty of treats. Ice cream and boxed chocolates are his fave.
