Artisans in Mexico by @samyoukilis for @voguemexico

Featuring master violin crafter, Patrocinio López and his family.

The small town of Batopilas, Chihuahua, is located next to a river that shares its name with the town, Batopilas. From the nearest town of Creel, the drive requires three hours of cautiously navigating the mountains’ curves. The final destination is the town situated in a magnificent landscape that Patrocinio López and his wife Aurelia López Villagas call home. Patrocinio is a master violin crafter, and Aurelia is a Guare artisan. They both work in traditions passed down through generations of the Rarámuri community who’ve inhabited this region of Chihuahua.
