Have you met talented Ward Wijnant? In TABLEAU you can now find his cool candleholders and mirror from the series ‘CHUNK’. Ward’s work is characterized by experimenting with materials. It is his mission to interpret the diversity of techniques and materials and translate them into contemporary designs that pay attention to detail and finish. Ward wants to show how the materials, and the way in which they are processed, influence the shape. The element of surprise is essential in his work. CHUNK is an iconic design shaped under high pressure. Hand-folding the tinfoil gives every piece its own unique weight and structure. The texture gets its luster from this technique and gives it an extravagant look. The series is created out of pressed tinfoil. This technique allows him, as it were, to mold the material. As a result, interminable possibilities and shapes can arise, which is inspiring to him. In his designs both techniques as material lead to the final form.
