Residents of Kamburi village in Runyenjes Constituency in Embu County woke up to a rude shock after they found the body of a middle-aged man dumped on a nearby plantation. Harrison Njiru, a village elder, said the body of Benson Gachioka was found on Monday morning by residents. "The deceased was mentally ill. Residents found his body in a vegetable plantation with cuts on his head and hands," police said. The suspect, a known vegetable farmer identified as Duncan Mugendi Njiru, has since surrendered to Runyenjes police station. "We are in possession of a wooden stick and a blood-stained rope which we believe are the murder weapons," police added. Locals condemned the incident even as they decried an increase in the cases of insecurity. Kathunguri Assistant Chief Lucy Njoki said the body has been taken to Kyeni Hospital mortuary.
