Being in New York is such a blessing & I decided I’m going to take more advantage of that. There are so many widely underrated activities in this city and I want to highlight them more. It brings me so much joy to be surrounded by the multitudes of talent, community, and genuine people & cultural aspects of this city I call home. The ballet snuck up on me. Initially I went as a sort of trendy moment, an opportunity to dress up, a moment of solidarity in girlhood—it pirouetted itself into something so much more. On the day that I went to the Dutch Ballet performance captured here, I actually met Maddy B, an active ballerina in the American Ballet Theatre. Hearing her POV on the performance and just watching the sheer discipline and talent was thrilling. Collective effervescence I think they call it. I was moved to tears by some of the pieces.
