This was my first year swimming all year round. I never feel more connected or more held than I do in the sea. She has been a constant in my life through a more than testing 12 months. In the winter I love the shock to my nervous system and the effort it takes to regulate my breathing, all the while knowing I have a flask of tea waiting for me. In the summer I relish being able to spend as much time as I like splashing in the waves and then letting the salt dry on my skin as I journal in the sun. Sometimes she welcomes me with open arms, other times she chews me up and spits me out. Occasionally she says no thank you altogether. I always listen. She is a never ending reminder of how small we are in comparison to the great unknown, I am always humbled in her presence. I don’t know much about God but I do know I never feel closer to her than when I swim (or maybe sat under a great big tree) Last video is one of my favourite swims in the past year, Jan 2022 💫
