It’s hard to put into words how important this project has been to the Adkins family. A year ago this Friday, Canon and I lost our grandfather, CJ Adkins, after a decades-long battle with cancer, diabetes, and other health challenges. Though his mind grew tired near the end, his spirit stayed strong. CJ spent his final years doing exactly what he did when he was well: preaching, pastoring, and proclaiming the gospel. Because he knew the wonderworking power of Christ’s atonement, he could truly say with Psalm 119, “It is good for me that I was afflicted, that I might learn your statutes.” His suffering was deep, but instead of using it as an excuse to pull back, he used it as a platform to praise. He continued to testify to the faithfulness of God. Some might say God’s faithfulness would have been best shown through healing. But we’ve seen firsthand how God displayed His faithfulness in CJ’s life, even in his passing, and in the countless people who came to know Christ through his ministry. That legacy inspired this new release. We’ll share more on Friday about the incredible team who helped bring this project to life. For now, we just want you to know that new music is coming. We hope this EP ministers to you with even a fraction of the power our grandfather’s testimony carried. “And So Shall I: A Tribute to a Life of Faithfulness to Christ” out this Friday - Q
