last year, @benjaminmlieber invited me to direct a music video for @marigoldny ‘s song “waiting around”. the inspiration for the song came from the fear and frustration that individuals based in the creative industry experienced throughout the tumultuous 2020 pandemic and the way their work and imagination were challenged. the video is a documentary perspective capturing two exceptional creatives, film photographer @birgitbuchart and dancer @erikafawcett, living through their isolation and the impact it had on their own creative experiences during that time. “waiting around” echoes the fearful sentiment majority of people, in and outside of creative fields, experienced when the world shut down. the things that gave us a daily purpose, the environments that gave us inspiration, were taken from us. and the rooms we were bound to felt smaller and smaller with each passing day. lockdown gave us all a story to tell. i’m honored to be a part of this one and to be able to have created something meaningful through seemingly still unprecedented times. artist / song: @marigoldny “waiting around” dir: @aysiamarotta editor/colorist: @benjaminmlieber dop: @kriskhunachakmm featuring: film photographer & artist @birgitbuchart choreographer & dancer @erikafawcett dancers @unclechiliwhiskers & @hayleyjclark
