I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural @clooneyfoundationforjustice #AlbieAwards last night which is designed to cast a protective spotlight over people who are at risk of persecution for the work that they do around the world. The objective is for this spotlight to make it harder for them to be mistreated, arrested, and jailed because their detractors will know the world is watching. The honorees for the evening included Justice Albie Sachs whom the awards are named after and received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Filipino journalist Maria Ressa received the Justice For Journalists award @maria_ressa . iAct an NGO working with survivors of mass atrocities received the Justice for Survivors award @iactivism . Belarusian human rights group Viasna received the Justice For Democracy Defenders award @viasna96 and Dr. Josephine Kulea for the Samburu Girls Foundation in Kenya received the Justice for Women’s award @samburugirlsfdn . Such an eye opening and inspiring evening. Thank you to the @clooneyfoundationforjustice for bringing everyone together for such a special night and thank you to my @burberry family for having me 🤍
