Photo dump from Location 2: Cooper Square in the East Village! 📸 Thank you to everyone who brought "Open Invitation" to life during its tour of NYC, stopping by the stoop to sit, scroll, snack, and share stories!! This work would be nothing without you. 🥰 . . . . "Open Invitation" is an interactive public art installation that offered my fellow New Yorkers a shared space to meet up and relax. Intended to embody the interconnected experience of city living, this hexagonal artwork is part seating structure, and part monument that celebrates community and feeling like you belong. I was inspired by how the city’s iconic brownstone stoops serve as sites for spontaneous social gatherings, so I decided to create a public stoop for anyone and everyone. It is open and welcoming from all sides, offering seating in the round. "Open Invitation" was a 'call to inaction'—an opportunity to take a break from busy city life, slow down, and savor the moment together. This artwork was commissioned by @makersmark for their "Toast to Remarkable NYC" program.
