28 femicides in Austria so far in 2022. 28 lives stolen by patriarchal violence - mostly by partners or ex partners. Yesterday @fstreikgraz & the Femizid Demo Bundnis held our monthly demo against femicide in Austria. We go on the streets every month to make femicide visible and to make demands! As we march, the FLINTA* person on the mic introduces each chant. Here’s a rough English translation of some of the chants: We are on the streets because another woman / FLINTA* person has been murdered by a man. Therefore we scream: KEINE* EINZIGE* WENIGER! [Not one less!] We are inspired by the women’s strike movement in Latin America. There, they answer the many femicides - we want to live!: VIVAS NOS QUEREMOS! NI UNA* MENOS! [We want to live! Not one less! ] Every month, approximately 2 women or marginalised genders are murdered by their partner, ex partner, brother, father or son: NEHMT IHR UNS EINE* - ANTWORTEN WIR ALLE! [If you take one - we all answer!] Femicide happens in all social classes and everywhere around the world. In Kurdistan, they fight against this violence and say Women! Life! Freedom!: JIN JIYAN ADAZI!
