Having the opportunity to speak about the obstacles small business owners face in my industry right now is so important to me. This hasn’t been an easy time for anyone. I worry for our city, my industry, my team, clients. I don’t believe we should be in a lock-down, I believe we should be completely SHUT-DOWN right now. I'm not angry, I worry. I am proud of me and other small business owners like me that have fought so hard to hold it all together all while being asked to be patient. We (salons) can provide a safe place for our guests and our team, we have the ability to limit capacity, book appointments, to ensure customers are correctly wearing a mask and following our protocols, contact trace, safely distance our service area (6ft) sanitizing to keep teams as well other guests safe, continuously clean high-touch areas. We have been left in the dust, it feels so wrong and unfair. The reopening strategy needs to include us before anyone else, the small business subsidies need to be formulated to be more help than for us to break even so we have a chance to get through this.
