Thrilled to announce I’ve been selected as one of the global ambassadors for America’s hottest new virus! ❤️‍🔥 wow living on planet Earth is fUn*~*~ anyway for real, I value my privacy in health but I want to be transparent rn for two reasons — I have a huge homecoming show this weekend in Houston with @werqtheworld and I am unfortunately 1000% unable to be there and I want y’all to know why. I’m so sorry. 😢😷 I also want to shed light on how terribly the U.S. federal government is handling this crisis, both with its deliberately poor vaccine preparation and its lack of urgency to provide clear and concise information to citizens about the illness. Yesterday, New Yorkers specifically experienced déjà vu as a literally immediate and foreseeable crash of the only website designed to schedule local vaccine appointments proved that regardless of how responsible we ensure ourselves to be, we are at the mercy of a system which does not value our wellbeing and certainly does not prioritize the LGBTQIA+ community, who is most at risk here. Let me repeat that last part — a disease is suddenly knocking down men who have sex with other men while their basic rights are in question by the Supreme Court and there is currently, visibly, little to no organization or urgency in helping and protecting them. This is a big fucking deal. I’m really angry, and you should be, too. I am telling you, as someone with what I’m considering a milder case (and I’ve had to assess that myself, add detective to my résumé), that monkeypox is no fucking joke. It has made me very ill and it can be very painful. And there is currently no cure. You just have to literally watch your skin heal itself from the inside out, for weeks. Make some fucking noise about how god damn difficult it is to get the vaccine and then GET! THE VACCINE! Fight for your health. This isn’t just about monkeypox. This is political. Fight. For. Your.
