The Force-Velocity Curve. Here’s glimpses of my weight room sessions of recent. I’ve been working a lot on single leg strength and laying the foundations to more explosive movements later in the season. I’m a big advocate of the phrase ‘if you don’t use it, you’ll loose it’. So for experienced athletes it’s very important for me to touch as much of the FV spectrum all throughout the season. I focus on 1 or 2 specific areas at their appropriate times in the season while other areas take a back seat, but never really die. This makes sense when thinking of the long term. When it’s time to progress from max strength to more power work, it wouldn’t be wise to completely neglect any strength work, or your force recruiting capabilities, and therefore power would reduce.
