Tuesday in SF, the Asian community attended a packed town hall to demand answers from city leaders on violence targeting Asian elders and Asian women. One attendee shared in Chinese how 4 months after she was attacked in the head & filed a police report, she still sees the attacker in her neighborhood and have not received any update. SFPD Chief Scott gave no concrete commitments towards a solution on protecting our community and responding to our monolingual members. San Francisco is 37% Asian, 24% Chinese yet only 1 out of 8 SFPD Chiefs is Asian and none are Chinese speaking. We demand @sfpdofficial hire/promote leaders and officers that 'reflect the diversity of the community is serves' as recommended by Cal DOJ in their SFPD reform assessment*.
