As @itsconnersully and I answered the call to adventure dialed by the mystery of the North African dunes, I not only inked my passport with its 50th stamp but was also thrust immediately back into our typical adrenaline-fueled international capers that I so missed during the near two years of pandemic confinement. We slept in cars, broke bread with new friends, and got taken in by a kind-hearted farce of a police squad on suspicion of international espionage against the Tunisian government (wish I was making that up) — all in pursuit of uncovering universal truths across cultures and figuring out how to intertwine them into the stories we tell back home.
