Yup, I tasted all these. Seriously mind-blowing cocktails at this new bar located in the lobby of @themaybournebh.
@chrisamiam is serving next-level drinks up in here. Smoked-filled cinnamon bubbles, a lychee martini that actually tastes like a martini, a baijiu cocktail that makes me 🤤 vs. 🤢, a Negroni with a dragonfruit ice wedge. Plus the menu itself is something to behold with artwork, a tasting graph (is that what it’s called?), and a carefully thought out theme based on the Five Elements Theory.
All told, there are 15 drinks on this new menu, which will stick around until November. Chris tasted me through all of them #hosted, save one due to a supply chain issue. The Drive to Survive cocktail, I never knew you but I think I would have loved you with your umeshu, Rosso di Torino 1757, Campari, marigold and soda. 😔
All were so well-done and delicious. I’ve loved Chris’ themed menus when he did them at Otium but his talent and imagination really shine here. With each drink all I could think about was “How did he come up with this??” A lot of the drinks are inspired by his heritage, by his favorite movies and TV shows, people in his life, and favorite cocktails.
And you gotta appreciate the details here, such as the watermelon powder on the Mr. Styles, the demitasse spoon with which to enjoy the Negroni-infused dragonfruit slush of the Turning Red, and the aroma of the torched marshmallow garnish on the Salute Your Shorts.
There’s not a bad drink in the bunch. I even liked that baijiu one! Chris managed to find a baijiu that I actually enjoy sipping.
But if I had to pick my faves: the Vesper-inspired Omega, the Bali H’ai lychee martini, the Pan-Am... damn. They were all good.
