We have some big news! 🎉
For almost 6 months we've been working hard behind the scenes on a project that we're finally ready to talk about. We want to give you a quick sneak peek of what’s on the way in the coming months too!
Every year film manufacturers produce millions of small plastic containers used to protect your 35mm film in the supply chain, and many of them ultimately end up with us.
All plastic that has ever been produced still exists in the environment in one form or another, be it in use, in landfill or unfortunately in our oceans and waterways.
We’re very excited to announce that we are now offering a recycling program for film industry plastic. It’s done completely in-house, and we are currently in the midst of transforming part of our space into an injection molding facility to bring new life to this waste stream.
We’ve been working with some extremely talented people to make use of plastic destined for landfill, and transform it into new tools for film shooters that are beautiful, functional and sustainable.
We’re starting with a whopping 20,000 film containers from our in-house developing operations and contributions from @bayou_film, @fotofastfilm, @pphprahran and @the_presentation_place.
Many labs in Australia (and the world) are in exactly the same boat as us which is why we’re extending the invitation to any lab or film shooter to get involved. It’s free to participate and 100% of what we receive will be recycled, repurposed and removed from the traditional waste stream.
We’ve been working hard to make this a permanent addition to our space rather than a once off and we can’t wait to show you our plans for the future.
This is just the beginning.
If you're involved in a lab that wants to be more mindful about their waste, email [email protected] for more information.
