It was quite different from what I was used to seeing. In 2017 I published Noel's book OLD GROUND and though I didn't have a chance to work with him again, I'm glad that I'm able to support him on this new project. I've loved seeing him branch out into soft sculpture work and hope to see more of this work in galleries.” — Annie Koyama “The Koyama Provides Grant will aid in the production costs of Halloween Baptism, the comic book follow up to 2020's Halloween Confession. When I first began to find my voice in the comics medium it was through the form of horror genre comics. Through the assistance of the grant I will be able to continue dissecting the genre from the inside out. We've reached a cultural moment where printed media solely exists for novelty, self-published books crafted by the artist's hands are scarce, grants and/or government support for publishing arts is non-existent. With the assistance of the Koyama Provides Grant, the efforts of Halloween Baptism will be made flesh.
