How to Correctly and Safely Bring Hunter-Harvested Game Birds Back into the United States from Canada (2/2):
Effective Sept. 12, USDA APHIS now allows hunters to bring harvested game bird meat and/or carcasses across the Canadian border, so long as they adhere to new APHIS import restrictions designed to reduce the risk of spreading Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) or “bird flu.” Here’s a quick video of DU Chief Scientist Dr. Steve Adair demonstrating one option for safely cleaning and packing harvested waterfowl for transport from Canada in accordance with APHIS restrictions.
