This is Emily, who's had the furthest south (Panama), and furthest north (Quebec) birthdays in our family. She turns sixteen today (last photo), and I'm grateful I made it back just in time from #thearcticmystery Northwest Passage voyage to celebrate with her. I've never missed one of the children's birthdays yet, and this was a near thing as we battled the weather to get to Nome in time for a grueling cross-country flight, but I made it at last, and will by all means eat cake tonight.
