December 1st is World AIDS Day. Pride Toronto is committed to raising awareness and cultivating compassion for all people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS has many faces and affects many individuals, families, and communities in different ways. Historically, HIV/AIDS has deeply impacted the queer community and continues to do so to this day. We also want to recognize that the reality of living with or being affected by HIV/AIDS is different in different parts of the world. As an organization deeply concerned with the health and well being of the queer community — as well as everyone living with or affected by HIV/AIDS — we want to call out the stigma that many people living with HIV/AIDS face. It is all of our responsibility to build a more just world. Embrace learning and compassion as tools towards increased understanding and help stop the stigma.
