IT’S ABOUT TO GET REALLY PINK! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month & very soon you’ll start noticing pink everywhere, clothes, your favourite soap powder, even food! But please beware! Why pink? Because it’s the colour assigned to the cancer ribbon for breast, a bit like prostate cancer has a light blue ribbon, lung cancer has a white ribbon & so on. Brands changes their products to pink to show they support breast cancer, breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women under 50 in the UK! Can we just clarify that it is SECONDARY Breast Cancer that kills! Secondary Breast Cancer needs more funding & awareness to be able to research more treatments to keep us here longer, it’s that simple. SOOOOOO when you see something pink, please consider buying to support BUT! And here is the BUT, please check where the funds are going and what percentage is being donated. Some brands will slap pink on their products and only donate 1% to charity, it looks good for them, supporting cancer, but it’s not actually doing much good for the people who need that support, the people living with cancer, THIS IS CALLED PINK WASHING! So please don’t be afraid to ask when out shopping.
