Not all skin cancers are easy to spot. This patient had a basal cell carcinoma — the most common type of skin cancer — but with an infiltrative pattern. That means it spread underneath the surface of the skin, making it harder to detect just by looking. During Mohs micrographic surgery, we could see how much larger it was beneath the skin than it appeared on top. After clearing all the cancer cells, we repaired the area — and here he is one year later, healed and looking great. 💡 Lesson: Even “common” skin cancers can hide in uncommon ways. Regular skin checks matter. #drtruittsandiego #sandiegodermatologist #healthyskinsd #drtruitt #skincancer #sandiego
