Whenever a new client sits in my chair I always ask, “What do you love about your hair and what do you hate about your hair?” I want to know everything about your hair life before we come up with a plan of action for the appointment. When I asked Sarah, she said she had never really loved her hair! This broke my heart for her and I told her it was my mission to change that. She had previously been getting a single process to cover grey and then getting highlights on top of that. Her single was constantly going brassy and all she could see was red. I switched her to something that would just blend her greys rather than fully cover them, and stop exposing the warmth in her natural hair. I love to go this route if possible, because if you are getting highlights of top of the single you are already breaking it up and it lets us use nature’s highlights as part of the plan rather than working against them.
