Somewhere along the way in the last six months or so, I got very lost. I’d been blaming the Instagram algorithm for a lack of motivation - but truthfully, the fault was my own. It just took me a little time to recognise what was going on within. I used to share so much more value in this space. Words, thoughts, feelings and stories. I would often take the time to pause and curate consciously, making sure everything brought into this space was of some value. Somewhere in the last year I told myself that “engagement” and growth was the important thing for my business and so I hustled hard to try and grow, posting consistently and (somewhat) mindlessly. I spoke to other creators about what drove virality (reels apparently, with no exact formula). Somehow, I forgot in the process, that connection has always been more important to me than anything in this community - and I’d started to lose that. In my head, I thought I was still connecting with people - but in reality I had confused consistency with being truly present. I was here, but not here at all. I am so glad I recognised where the path veered and I’m looking forward to consciously curating instead of feeling this immense pressure to post consistently. I’m giving myself permission to relax about the whole algorithm thing. I hope you can too! I might say goodbye to follower numbers - but I absolutely won’t be saying goodbye to growth - I’ll be growing my connections, my happiness, my creativity and most importantly, my ability to support you guys, because my bucket will no longer be empty 😊 Have you felt any pressure around social media and your business lately?
