I usually keep my personal life private, but some stories deserve to be told… Believe it or not, my grandparents on my mother’s side of the family are from Mexico City. When my mom was young, they left everything behind, including family to start a new life in the U.S. They began again from scratch in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where they opened a Mexican restaurant that quickly became a success. That restaurant wasn’t just a business, it was a huge part of my childhood and a cornerstone of who I am today. Though my grandparents have long since passed, I like to believe they’re watching over me with pride. Not just my grandparents but to my Aunt, Uncle, cousins who are still present with what I’m doing now, reconnecting with the culture of Mexico and honoring the roots that flow through my blood, feels like a way of carrying their story forward. #culture #family #myblood
