New album artwork for Daniel Bachman's "Almanac Behind" forthcoming on @3lobed later this fall. I can't take too much credit for this as Daniel had all the pieces and I helped him sort it out with colors and typefaces that echoed the weather and climate themes that are found on this album. That said I do have a strong opinion on this album so much that I truly believe this is a watershed recording in what has long been touted in the so-called modern American Primitive scene. Which at times Daniel has been balled into though he has continued to release albums that simply push against the expectations of a player in this realm. I sort of jokingly said to Daniel and Cory Rayborn after hearing the album for the first time that its 'the death of finger picker albums' as it melds so many found sounds and guitar playing with uncommon recording techniques. This is the album Daniel has been sorting out in his head for years now and well I am just going to say it and maybe I will eat my flannel shirt later - its a masterpiece. I am proud to just be a little part of it as I have been listening to it constantly the last few months and it continues to boggle my mind.
