No, you don’t need a 10 step skincare routine. For general skin health, these are the essentials: ☀️MORNING: 1. Antioxidants (e.g. vitamin C) - help prevent and repair environmental and UV damage + boost collagen production 2. Sunscreen - skin cancer prevention + slows down skin aging but preventing UV-induced collagen breakdown 🌜EVENING: 3. Retinol/Retinoids- increase collagen production, unclog pores, treat acne and dark spots 4. Moisturizer - hydrate, especially when using a retinoid (Moisturizer can also be used in the morning, after the antioxidant and before SPF) Toners are unnecessary, may strip the skin of good oils, and certainly not needed if you are using a retinoid. However, if you have super oily skin, love using a toner and it is not drying you out or irritating your skin- keep using it! Everyone’s skin is different, listen to your skin, it will usually tell you what you need (or don’t need)! Now, if you are trying to address particular skim concerns, such as acne, dark spots (hyperpigmentation or melasma), you may need to steps to this routine. That is a separate topic and usually needs to be addressed by a dermatologist, though there are OTC options you can start with.
