AllTogether: Florian Hetz, b. 1975, Germany. Untitled, 2017 and Untitled, 2016. Photographer Florian Hetz closes in on those seemingly everyday moments and the bodies in their state at the time, elevating them and translating them into his hyper-focused, visceral language. After severe encephalitis ended his professional life as a producer for theatre, @florian.hetz started to keep a visual diary to counteract the memory loss as an after-effect of brain inflammation. He began documenting his daily life during the recovery. Gradually the process of taking diary photos shifted to creating photos that were based on his memories or what Hetz had to trust his memory was. In 2017, during an artist residency at @tomoffinlandfoundation, Hetz introduced landscapes and still-lifes into his work and engaged with natural light. @fxhetz lives and works in Berlin, Germany. “Tom introduced me to proud, happy gay men, celebrating their life and sex with confidence in full daylight. Nothing was hidden, and there was no shame attached to it. And I couldn't have had a better role model than that.” The first two exhibitions of AllTogether were on view in Venice and Paris during April-June, 2022.
