Lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise are hugely important. Cutting out caffeine, moving your body and more reduces symptoms. HRT replaces hormones, so it treats symptoms related to hormone deficiency but if your symptoms aren’t due to that it won’t work! For example, vaginal oestrogen may improve your libido by making sex not painful, whole body oestrogen in HRT may improve libido, or improve your mood and anxiety so libido improves, testosterone can also increase your libido BUT if the problem is relationship issues the HRT won’t necessarily boost your libido! This applies to lots of symptoms, HRT will only help if your symptom is related to low hormone levels. If not you may need something else. HRT works and is beneficial for so so many women, helping them stay in work, in relationships, to be themselves. But it isn’t the only answer.
