A few shots from last week's Canada trip ⛷When I’m knee-deep in fresh powder with many layers of wool to keep myself warm, it’s pretty easy to forget about global warming! But what is skiing going to look like in the future? ❄️ A few key points: -ski season is shrinking. Certain resorts are having to offer refunds on tickets because of bad seasons - a study done at 247 winter destinations showed that the season could be cut in half as soon as 2050, it’s especially bad in the Northeast - the snow cover in Switzerland over 1200 m can see a 70% in reduction by the end of the century ❄️ Good news! : - lots of innovation! Examples: solar panel powered lifts, lifts connecting mountains taking cars off the roads sustainable ski wear and gear options, - green certifications on ski resorts (ex: Flocon Vert = green snowflake) ❄️ Points of action: - support companies doing good! trying to find alternate transportation to airplanes (I’ve flown several times to ski this year... ) - the biggest of them all: putting pressure on your government and large companies to put the climate crisis on the top of the agenda!
