So when I recently picked up around 140 exposures of Polaroid Type55 film, I needed to get in the studio at @makersgym and test the viability of this film that hasn’t been made in almost 15 years and of this particular stock that expired around 20 years ago. These images are the result of our creative collaboration both in digital and analog formats. I also tested out some new Ferrania B&W that I ran through an old F5 body to see how it performs. As for the 4X5 Type55, anything in my lot that expired before 2000 was trash. Chemistry was dry. After 2000 it was hit or miss. When it hit, either the positive was super nice and the negative was sketchy or vice versa. The good thing is that I have viable stock for some upcoming projects. The last time I used Type55 film on a project was for ESPN back in 2016 and I did not think I would ever get to work with it again. Now the 4X5 is back together with a @nikonusa Nikkor-W 210mm f5.6 Copal 1 lens on the front and my mind is swirling with ideas.
