Wink. This owl had a startling right eye, his pupil was completely dilated, making his eye appear entirely black. I’m not sure if this was caused by a traumatic head injury (great horned owls are frequently hit by cars) or if it’s simply a delayed dilation of the eye that was closed against the wind.
