The @nytimes recently published an article titled “Feeding A Hotter Planet”, calling attention to the fact that the world faces an unprecedented hunger crisis, made worse by climate change. Nearly a third of our food is wasted and much of it goes to landfills. In Ibiza, it is estimated between 20 and 25%...this increases the production of greenhouse gases like methane, and aggravates climate change. But food can and should be our medicine. For our bodies and for the planet 🌎 So we came together at the @thebeachcavesibiza 🌱 Activists, local and international farmers, hoteliers, journalists, and community leaders. We shared local and global perspectives to reimagine The Future of Food. The conversation turned into action: Four composting sites are already being activated by MakeSoil.org on the island this month and new supplying agreements are being established with local farmers! “We need to go to the source and that’s when we thought the soil is the most important, fundamental factor here.” @GabyGambina @IbizaProduce We must create more circularity in our food systems: supporting local farmers and composting our food waste, sending it back to where it belongs to help regenerate our soil that in turn can sequester more CO2 from the atmosphere. #TheFutureofFood #MakeSoil #thinkglobalbuylocal 💚: @tansykaschak @ahotellife @natkelley @belagil @arizonamuse @makesoil @JoshWhiton @gabygamb @mambobrothers @tierrairis @mathiamilani @itslauraboyd @davidleppan @emiliefouilloux @flyonlittlewing @solynkad @ibizapreservation @terravivaibiza @aguaibizaformentera @thebeachcavesibiza @benpundole
