It’s one of my favorite destinations in Croatia, and one of the prettiest islands for photos. Here’s a quick rundown of my favorite Hvar photo locations. SKOR SQUARE Charming cobbled square in Stari Grad surrounded by stone houses with green shutters, green doorways and green plants growing up the walls. DUBOVICA BEACH Truly gorgeous pebble bay with where the water literally sparkles on a sunny day. My favorite part of Dubovica is the backdrop a 17th century church and an old stone summer house perched on the rocks. ARSENAL BALCONY The prettiest balcony that overlooks St. Stephen’s Square and the harbor in Hvar Town. FRANCISCAN MONASTARY This beach, swimming rocks and a sunbathing platform sit at the edge of Old Town. All are located next to the Franciscan Monastery, a beautiful 15th century church that serves up the prettiest scenery for a day on the water. TVRDAJL CASTLE A former summer residence of 16th century poet Petar Hektorovic, the Renaissance building is completely serene. Particularly lovely is the beautiful open air courtyard at the entrance where a blue saltwater pool is filled with dozens of mullet. SPANISH FORTRESS The 16th century fortress sits perched over Hvar and offers sweeping views of the town below, as well as the Pakleni Islands. ZARACE BEACH Zarace is truly epic. It’s home to two coves that face opposite directions – Malo Zarace and Velo Zarace. I love Velo Zarace, an inlet of deep turquoise water that literally twinkles under the Adriatic sunshine. CENTRAL PARK CLUB STEPS Charming set of steps that lead up into Old Town. There’s a beautiful bougainvillea that surrounds the steps, as well as cute little bar tables and stools. SWIM LADDERS That’s right, the prettiest swim ladders are scattered all around the island. STARI GRAD ALLEYWAYS The most photogenic alleyways on the island are in the Stari Grad Old Town. BACKLANE CRAFT BAR Town. This is a picturesque little bar in Hvar that I find completely charming. ST. STEPHEN’S SQUARE The central stone square in Hvar Town is vibrant, and picturesque.
