Hector 2007-2025 🖤 My best friend - some would even say my slightly concerning lover - I met Hector whilst doing 2 weeks of work experience in year 10 at the Carine vet. Hector was a 3 month kitten with a broken leg and was up for 30 day adoption, after 3 weeks no one wanted to adopt him because of the cost of surgery for his leg. With a week left before they would have to put him down, I asked my mum - Cruzy Suzy - if we could adopt him and she said no. Knowing Cruzy Suzy was as soft as butter in a Perth heat wave, I asked how about you just come in and meet him then? The vets helped me groom him and put a bow tie on, and needless to say, Cruzy Suzy was powerless. The vets were so happy to see Hector get a home that they did the surgery for free. I grew up (kinda) with Hector for the last 18 years, through high school to uni to now. He was a calming loving force, whose only fault was sleeping on Cruzy Suzy’s puzzles. I knew I would be crushed when this day finally came but I am happy we could give him 18 years he wouldn’t have had otherwise. To Hector, you were a better man than all of us.
