Bibi Gul, 15, whose story we recently shared, sits in her wheelchair provided by TYTW. She is currently recovering from a devastating car accident, which caused her to lose her leg in Ghor, #Afghanistan, and is now out of the hospital and at home with her family, excited to return to school. After our post last week, our friends at @Giveinstantaid, in partnership with The Lamia Afghan Foundation, generously connected us with the Kabul Orthopedic Organization and A Leg To Stand On, and we are now in discussions of how to get her fitted for a prosthetic leg once she is further along in her healing. The Lamia Afghan Foundation will be housing Bibi and her family at a hotel in Kabul and paying for their accommodations and transportation back and forth to the Orthopedic Organization. Bibi Gul is expected to be ready for a prosthesis within 6 to 8 weeks after amputation and she is already up on crutches to prepare for it. Bibi is currently enrolled in TYTW’s programming, which supports more than 800 families, including 110 families in Ghor Province, through TYTW’s Parwana Food Security, Education, & Livelihoods program, which provides case management and family sensitization on child marriage, food to help meet immediate needs, education programming for girls, and start-up capital and livelihoods training. This would not be possible without our generous supporters @opensocietyfoundations, @together.rising, @allendeisabel, and many other anonymous and generous supporters like you.
