Think about emollients as the oils that fill in the gaps between skin cells, help keep irritants out and seal in good water content so that skin doesn’t become dry, itchy or irritated. They are extremely important for a healthy skin barrier. The best time to use emollients is right after bathing, and then pair it with a moisturizer that has occlusives to help further seal in all that good hydration. My go-to for hydration is Bio-Oil Skincare Oil. This fan-favorite has Vitamin A & E, Chamomile Oil, and Sunflower Oil — all excellent emollients. The formula is lightweight, non-greasy and helps nourish skin while retaining moisture without clogging pores. It is my favorite product to keep handy on my bathroom counter to boost my moisturization routine.
