Sometimes I get too focused on a project and forget to pick my head up to look around and reflect. Here’s a moment that deserves some feed time... • This was a commissioned painting I worked on last year- 110 letters painted with a high level of detail to create that realistic Mylar balloon effect. A fun take on a crossword puzzle, with hidden words that were meaningful to the client. • When we sat down to discuss what he was looking for he kept going back to words like ‘colorful’, ‘patterned’, & ‘repetition’. After pitching 3 ideas, we landed on this crossword puzzle Mylar balloon idea. It was the obvious winning choice and was also the most labor intensive. But that’s how it goes- the more time and care you put into something, the more you get out of it. & this painting is no different, and will forever be one of my all-time favorites.
