What does witnessing HISTORY live look like? Monday night at @metopera it looked and sounded deeply rooted and profoundly transcendent as I experienced the premiere of FIRE SHUT UP IN MY BONES composed by @terence_blanchard- the first black composer, libretto by @kasi_lemmons- the first black librettist , and co-directed by @camilleabrown the first black director in the 138-year history of the Met Opera. It was my first visit to this beautiful theater and I was gifted a front row center view to celebrate the remarkable achievement by my two dear friends. What does witnessing history FEEL like?
