Cookie, 12.5 years old, and Allie, 12 years old, the official mascots of @dachshundsofnyc. Today is #givingtuesday and we’ve been reflecting on the fact that Cookie and Allie both joined our family in 2018 but that they both have very different origin stories. We adopted Cookie from an owner who loved her (and gave her the best care possible) but could no longer keep her, Allie had been surrendered to a shelter in Tennessee after what had clearly been a life of neglect with little to no medical care. @pupstarzrescue stepped in to save her and give her much needed medical care (vaccinations, spaying, dental etc.) Allie walked into our life as a foster dog in September 2018 and never left. If Pupstarz hadn’t stepped in to save this senior dog (that was, quite honestly, a total hot mess 🤣) we would have never been lucky enough to be her parents. Pupstarz did the same for our beautiful angel Willow 😇 in 2016 (who crossed the 🌈 2 months ago) and they continue to do every single day for pups (and kitties) in need. In fact, they just saved 20 dogs from a horrific hoarding situation. This is a long-winded way of asking to please donate in this #givingtuesday so that they continue to their mission. They have a campaign with @welovecuddly (link in bio) where you can donate or purchase items from a wishlist for the most medically fragile pups.
