6.6.2022, Ely Cathedral 🕊 As soon as I walked into this cathedral it took my breath away - the beauty, the vastness, the intricate details absolutely everywhere and the profound peacefulness when you’re there. It is obviously very British, holy and traditional but with a Romanesque, Gothic style. I first came here to perform and fell in love with it straight away. I kept coming back to visit and when I became a patron of the girls choir it was even more special to me. I didn’t even think it would be possible to get married here but when I knew it was, I was completely over the moon. We had seen lots of venues over the years, but I think when you actually know the right place, you get such a different feeling and you just know. The cathedral has its origins in AD 672 when St Etheldreda built an abbey church. The present building dates back to 1083, and it was granted cathedral status in 1109. When I think of all the brides who have got married here throughout the years I feel so lucky to now be one. Thank you so much to the Dean, Mark Bonney and everybody at Ely Cathedral for the incredible ceremony and for all you do every day. One thing I knew I definitely wanted for the day was flowers in soft yellows and creams absolutely everywhere. Sophie and her team @sophiesflowerco were exquisite and so accommodating. They added to the setting perfectly and when I saw the magic they had created I was in awe. More to come... 📷 - @katiejulia_ @alicewilkes_design
