A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of speaking to the Connecticut Valley Camera Club in Old Lyme, CT. The evening before, I met up with one of the members for a sunset photo lesson, focusing (no pun intended)on longer exposures of the water. We headed to Beavertail State Park and found a nice rocky spot with water coming over the rocks and an angle that hopefully would include the setting sun. The clouds moved in before we could get the best color, but I captured this shortly before we packed up and was able to pull some color as the sun was moving lower behind the clouds. The multiple layers of clouds really helped create a mood, and the long exposure smoothing the water around the rocks finished it off nicely!
