One year ago, @alexandrecorda and I went to Venice for the Buccellati gala and the Biennale. We went back this year for a break, which, for us, means a beautiful place to work interrupted by long pauses of unfocused gazing (and museum visits). We found respite at the @venicevenicehotel and enjoyed a few notable meals. As I mentioned last year, I first visited the city with @miaomalley (who turned 40 on April 5) and @dinotrux (who will turn 40 tomorrow). We were 16 (check out the last photo) and I fell in love. These feelings only intensified during the early days of my friendship with Ian Falconer, who immortalized his adoration of this city with the book “Olivia Goes to Venice.” Even with all the tourists (of which clearly I was one), Venice communicates its marvels and allows for continued exploration. You can sense that it has so many secrets!
