I’ve been hearing a lot of misinformation on intuitive eating lately, so clearing some of that up here🤗 Intuitive eating is a non-diet approach that can help you optimize health, wellness, and performance💚 It’s based off of 10 principles that are meant to serve as a guide (not rules!) to help you learn how to listen to and respond to what your body needs. Intuitive eating allows you to learn how to tune out external factors that influence your eating so you can truly become the nutrition expert of your own body. The best part? There are NO food rules - it’s truly an all foods fit approach🎉 That means no off-limits list of foods, no “stoplight” food system, no calorie tracking, and no guilt🙌🏼 While this concept is liberating for some, the lack of food rules can be overwhelming for others and can make you feel out of control around food you used to or currently restrict. Know that this feeling is totally normal, especially as you first begin to practice intuitive eating. With time, practice and support, that feeling will go away, and it’ll become easier to balance out eating for fuel, nourishment, and enjoyment without feeling out of control.
