Little announcement! Today is the one week anniversary of the newest addition to the Waters household! I'd like everyone to meet Bud! Bud is a Brachypelma Hamorii tarantula, otherwise know as a Mexican Red Knee. This type of tarantula is far and away the most famous, appearing in both Indiana Jones and Home Alone. I've wanted a tarantula for a while now and recently I finally bit the bullet and got one. So far, Bud's only about an inch big, but over the course of the next few years they'll grow to be about 5-6 inches. I'm being careful to use non-gendered language because I don't actually know whether Bud is a boy or girl. I'll only be able to find out once they grow bigger. Bud has very quickly become someone I love dearly. They're adorable and shy and perfect in every way. I won't post about them too often because I know some people (cowards) aren't very comfortable with spiders, but I wanted to at least share them once. If Bud is a female, I could have them for nearly 20 years. I look forward to every second of those 2 decades.
