Thrilled to be a part of
“Liminal Spaces” curated by Jamila Adeli & Priyanka
Khanna opening on the 8th September!
“For creatives, finding synchronicity in duality, is
essential to their oeuvre, and the void between opposing ideas is considered a magical tipping point. The tension between concrete and abstract, the past and the present, origin and completion are common themes in Tom Anholt's
work, that moves slightly away from his signature
figurative style; Also in movement, is lan Davis,
who faced with the stark ugliness of reality, is
approaching his work through a more surreal
lens; Rabia Farooqui, a trained Mughal miniaturist, explores the didactic tensions between traditional and modern techniques, with
a focus on empowering her South Asian roots; While for Emma Fineman, a continuity in language in a practice spanning painting, sculpture and monoprint, allows her to excavate lingering memories. Walking the line between
realism and surrealism is Arthur Lemaitre's forte,
a journey that started as a student in Paris, and is
characterized by layers of detailing to allow a
multitude of interpretations; The sum gives a meaning to all the parts, for Radu Oreian's pieces that fit into a larger narrative through a use of classical techniques of drawing and painting,
repetitive detailing and contextual use of figurative and abstract; questions of life and death are at the genesis of Hire Saeki's
incredibly powerful new works that reflect on her
relationship with her late estranged father, while
for Waswo X. Waswo, its inquiries into identity,
the ownership of practice and of belonging, and
his status as an insider or an interloper, that is up
for interpretation.”
